Club Thursday – British Jews in the First World War
Jun 20 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Alan Fell tells us about the organisation, part of the JLB and financed by the Heritage Lottery Fund, which has created a computerised base detailing the Jewish men and women who served in the armed forces during the first world war. This will provide an invaluable historical resource and work goes on, constantly adding more information. ‘We Were There Too’ – don’t miss this important meeting!

Between 1914-1918 millions of men and women from Britain and its wider Empire countries would become part of the UK military forces.

These men and women came from many backgrounds, which included thousand of British Jewish participants whose identity would be forged forever amongst their fellow countrymen and women as a result of their service.

Join us to find out more about these different men and women, how their lives contributed to the British war effort and how families and communities were affected with the impact of loss. Meet our experts to learn about the development of the conflict on the communities of the North West and how diversity amongst the British Forces was one of its strong characteristics that developed a deep sense of comradeship.
