‘Forced Out’ – A Must See Film Based on the Labour Resignation Letters – Screening Followed by Panel Q & A

The ‘must see’ film, crafted by Dr David Hirsh and Andrea Frankenthal based on the Labour resignation letters collected and collated by the creator and author of the Forced Out Project, Judith Ornstein. Film run time 35 minutes.

Film screening followed by panel Q & A with former MP Ivan Lewis, Dame Louise Ellman and Eve Garrard, Honorary Research Fellow in the Department of Philosophy at Manchester University.

The Centre for Jewish Studies – 50 Jewish Objects Artist Workshop 2020

This workshop will be of interest to people who would like to find a new and creative way to explore their family history and want to learn more about how encounters with objects can stimulate strong emotions and feelings. Artist Helena Tomlin has been working with the Centre for Jewish Studies at The University of Manchester to create a piece of work in response to two objects she has selected from the collection of object at the Johy Rylands Library.

The millions of men and women who became part of the UK military forces in 1914-18 came from many and all backgrounds, including thousands of British Jewish participants. Join us to find out more about these different individuals, how their lives contributed to the British war effort and how families and communities were affected by conflict.

Also find out about the work of AJEX, the Jewish Military Association UK, and how they are making sure the Jewish contribution to the British forces is never forgotten.
