Reading challenging sacred texts. Scriptural Encounters bring together different faiths to debate and discuss controversial topics. This is a new series on Gender Diversity. Scriptural Encounter is a textual study-discussion forum to achieve mutual understanding over potentially contentious texts on particular topics. It is hosted by the Centre for Jewish Studies at the University of Manchester in partnership with members of the Jewish, Christian and Muslim communities of Greater Manchester. In connection with the Northern Partnership.

Current Events

28 October 21. Scriptural Encounter meeting. The theme of the current series is Gender Diversity. Rabbi Ariel Abel will be the presenter with Jewish texts. 1200-13:30 hybrid event, on campus (University Place 4.214) and on zoom.

18 November 21. Scriptural Encounter meeting. The theme of the current series is Gender Diversity. Prof. Susannah Cornwall of Exeter University will be the presenter with Christian texts. 1200-13:30 hybrid event, on campus (University Place 3.205) and on zoom.

2 December 21. Scriptural Encounter meeting. The theme of the current series is Gender Diversity. Will be on Islamic texts, speaker TBC. 1200-13:30 hybrid event, on campus (University Place 3.209) and on zoom.
