We were proud to stand at the Lubavitch Grand Menorah Lighting outside Central Library, in the very heart of Manchester. Bringing light to the centre of our city felt especially symbolic given recent events in the city and this morning’s atrocity at Bondi Beach, Sydney.
As we continue to process the impact of the terrorist attack at Heaton Park Synagogue, we are also deeply shaken by the terrorist attack in Sydney, responsible for the death of more innocent Jews merely seeking to celebrate their faith.
Despite the tragic news, we have the pride and strength to light the menorah visibly and proudly in central Manchester. This sends a powerful message that hatred will not drive us from public space and that Jewish life belongs here.
We remain committed to working with our partners to keep our community safe and to ensuring that light continues to shine during these challenging times.
