JRC National Media Engagement in Response to the Sentencing of Mohammed Bashir

The JRC has been at the forefront of the UK Jewish community’s response to the national media following the sentencing of Mohammed Bashir and the apology from Greater Manchester Police chief Constable Sir Stephen Watson  over the missed opportunities to prevent the planned terrorist attack at Heaton Park Synagogue.

Our representatives spoke across the UK’s major television, radio and news outlets, ensuring the voice of Greater Manchester’s Jewish community was heard on BBC News, ITV News, Channel 4 News, Sky News, LBC, BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 5 Live and GB News alongside being quoted in print media.

Throughout the coverage, we highlighted the seriousness of the terrorist threat facing our community and the action we are calling on the Government to take to address it. We also acknowledged the Chief Constable’s apology and reinforced the importance of the longstanding partnership and trust between the Jewish community and Greater manchester Police as we continue working together to keep our community safe.
