Congratulations to the Yom Hashoah committee for an outstanding presentation commemorating the six million men, women and children murdered during the Holocaust.
The theme this year was ‘Escape.’ Powerful testimony was heard from Holocaust survivor Anne Super who was hidden as a young child. In addition, Jonathan Freedland spoke about his book ‘The Escape Artist’ and people were addressed by the Deputy Prime Minister, Oliver Dowden and Chair of the JRC, Mark Adlestone OBE.
During the evening, we heard the story of Janusz Korcak and witnessed survivors and their families light candles and say prayers in memory of those murdered.
It was also wonderful to host Council Leaders and Ceremonial Mayors from across Greater Manchester, including the Metro Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham and Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police, Stephen Watson.
