JRC Chair, Mark Adlestone OBE and Chief Executive, Marc Levy joined last night’s conversation with a Rabbi, an Imam and a Priest.

This was exactly the kind of interfaith engagement of which our communities need more. It wasn’t a box-ticking exercise or based around polite platitudes: it was a constructive, honest dialogue, grounded in respect, curiosity and the ability to disagree with one another calmly and through reasoned debate.

The panel addressed the difficult questions around faith, marches, flags, the recognition of a Palestinian state and the deeper causes behind the breakdown in community cohesion. These aren’t easy topics but it was fascinating to hear the responses, all from different perspectives.

What stood out most was the willingness to listen and understand. If we’re serious about rebuilding trust and strengthening community bonds, this can only be achieved through candid conversation, intellectual honesty and mutual respect.
