The JRC warmly welcomes the Government’s significant investment to strengthen the safety and security of Jewish communities. The additional police officers, enhanced neighbourhood policing and increased protection for schools, synagogues and community centres will provide welcome reassurance at a time of heightened threat.
However, while this investment is both necessary and appreciated, building higher walls and stronger security alone cannot be the answer. We need an equally determined commitment to tackling the root causes of antisemitism and extremism across every part of society, ensuring that Jewish communities are not simply better protects, but are able to live freely and confidently without fear.
We look forward to continuing to work with Government to ensure these measure are delivered effectively while maintaining a relentless focus on confronting antisemitism wherever it exists.
