At The Labour Party Conference, the JRC held meetings with MPs from across the region and were pleased to attend events held by important communal stakeholders.
We heard Government Minister, Sarah Sackman MP along with Baroness Ruth Anderson speak at The Jewish Labour Movement Fringe about their work representing Jewish members of The Labour Party for over 100 years. JLM were instrumental in ridding The Labour Party of antisemitism and it was wonderful to see a packed room celebrating the success of the organisation.
There was standing room only for an important debate on whether we currently live in an antisemitic age scheduled by the Antisemitism Policy Trust. Panellists were Home Office Minister, Lord David Hanson, Chair of the APPG on Antisemitism, Joani Reed MP, East Renfrewshire MP, Blair McDougall, Chief Executive of the Trust, Danny Stone and Community Security Trust (CST) Director of External Affairs, Jonny Newton.
A highlight of Conference is always the Labour Friends of Israel Fringe, where a packed room heard from the new Parliamentary Chair, Jon Pearce MP, Deputy Prime Minister, the Rt Hon Angela Rayner MP, Chancellor Rachel Reeves MP and Minister Peter Kyle MP and Pat McFadden MP. There were important words of support for our community and Israel during this challenging time.
