The JRC held a successful joint debut event with the Lancaster & Lakes Jewish Community, led by Rabbi Danny Bergson.
The event was dubbed ‘celebrating Jewish identity and culture’ and it did just that.
Over 50 people attended from the community including the Mayor of Lancaster, Margaret Pattison and Councillors from across the political parties.
The audience enjoyed a first half musical performance by Danny and his son, Tzvi weaving a theme of the importance of Jewish unity and resilience and drawing attention to the work of the JRC.
During the second half the crowd enjoyed a Klezmer dance with Ey Up Klezmer band from Yorkshire, led by community member, Fiona Frank.
Rabbi Danny commented “through vibrant events like these we are able to bring Jewish people together especially in small communities and help uplift and give a sense of Jewish pride whilst at the same time forging important relationships with local civic leaders who get to experience a glimpse of Jewish life.”
