Manchester Arena solidarity at Manchester Cathedral
Report by Filis Rosenberg MJRC Executive member
As a member of the Challenging Hate Forum I responded to the Dean of Manchester’s initiative to attend Manchester Cathedral in order that religious, community and civic leaders could stand together in solidarity with one another and with the victims of the terrible terrorist incident at the Manchester Arena on Monday 22nd May 2017. We heard brief but emotional speeches from the dignitaries present which included the Mayor, the Lord Mayor, Chief Constable GMP Ian Hopkins, Rabbi Warren Elf and the Dean. I felt honoured to be asked to share the lighting of the candle in memory of the victims with the Venerable Miao Di. Finally we were given the opportunity to sign a pledge affirming our commitment as a city to stand together.
